A REAL Horseback Tour of the Pankisi Gorge

You will have an authentic experience of nature, traditions, and Georgian hospitality!

The tour is led by Mikhail – a native of Tbilisi, with over 10 years of experience in tours, hiking, horseback riding, and traveling. He’s a dynamic and very interesting guide who will accompany the group on horseback!

Tour Program:

We depart to Kakheti through the picturesque Gombori Pass (1620 m) – stop at the highest point for a panoramic photo.

Women’s Monastery of Shuamta. The history of the unusual monastery hidden among the forests.

The journey to Pankisi. We are greeted by our friends at the ranch – Chechens from the Kist community. Preparation for horseback riding.

3-hour horseback ride through the gorge.

First, we ride along the river, enjoying the nature.

Then, we ascend to a beautiful spot with a panoramic view.

Horseback photo session.

Stop at the Chechen tower.

Return to the ranch.

Lunch with a hospitable family (optional, not included in the price).

Homemade Chechen cuisine.

Location

Tbilisi

Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
