"The Good Man from Sichuan" by Bertolt Brecht
PREMIERE
Bertolt Brecht's timeless play is dedicated to the affirmation of kindness as “an innate property of man.” Brecht believed that some human categories can only be depicted in the form of a parable. Where will kindness lead the heroine Shen De, is it possible to embody kindness in the world around us, what does the duality of the soul mean - these questions are answered by the play.
In this performance, no one pretends to be anyone and no one is lectured. Everything here is conditional and everything is real. After all, the art of theater is not an imitation of life, but a meaningful, newly created artistic canvas. Conventionality on stage turns into absolute authenticity. Metaphor overcomes any similarity, affecting the senses. Including the feelings of teenagers who boldly took on such “adult” material, empathizing with the characters.
