Barton Fink

1941. Young playwright Barton Fink arrives in Hollywood to write a commissioned screenplay for one of the major film studios. Staying in a dreadful hotel, he begins work, but progress is slow: absurd domestic mishaps constantly throw Barton off balance. Additionally, he struggles with the torment of creativity. All because the protagonist doesn't understand how to end the screenplay in a non-trivial way that began like hundreds of others.

 Three awards at Cannes, including the Palme d'Or and Best Director.
