Autumn is not only beautiful with its colorful landscapes but also holds its own secrets, no less fascinating than those of other seasons. We invite everyone to join a tour + hiking trip to Lake Kumisi with our biologist, Aleksey Sivukhin.
This lake is not only a “mecca” for birdwatchers (the autumn bird migration is nearly over) but also botanically interesting. We usually associate plant blooming with spring and summer, but there are whole groups of plants that bloom in autumn. During the tour, we will get to know these unusual plants and discuss how they adapt to challenging habitats (since Lake Kumisi is salty, and so are the surrounding soils).
And of course, we won’t overlook the birds — many of them stay here for the winter, and some might not have left for their winter migration yet.
We’ll also try to notice other interesting aspects of local fauna and flora and see how nature prepares for winter.
