Autumn is not only beautiful with its colorful landscapes, but it also holds its own secrets—just as fascinating as those of other seasons. We invite everyone to join an excursion and hike with our biologist Aleksei Sivukhin at Lake Kumisi.
This lake is not only a “mecca” for birdwatchers (the autumn bird migration is nearly over), but it is also botanically interesting. We are used to associating plant blooming with spring and summer, but there are entire groups of plants that bloom in autumn. During our excursion, we will get to know these unusual plants and talk about how they adapt to challenging habitats (since Lake Kumisi is salty, and so are the surrounding soils).
Of course, we won’t overlook the birds—many of them stay here for the winter, and some may not have left for their winter migration yet.
We will also try to notice other interesting aspects of local flora and fauna, observing how nature prepares for winter.
