Day 1. Goderdzi Botanical Garden
We’ll depart Batumi around 10:00 AM. On the way, we’ll stop for restrooms, and for lunch near the Goderdzi Alpine Botanical Garden. We’ll take a walk through the garden to stretch our legs.
It’s small but beautiful — about 2 km of trails.
On the way, we’ll stop by the Petrified Trees to see this natural wonder; our naturalist will explain how they’ve been preserved.
Evening of Day 1: dinner and walk.
We’ll check into the hotel in the afternoon, so that after arriving at night we can go straight to sleep. Then we’ll go out for dinner in a restaurant.
If time allows, those who want can take a stroll around the Rabati Fortress. We’ll be very close.
Evening of Day 1: observatory
Once it gets dark, we’ll head to Georgia’s only observatory for an evening tour.
We’ll observe planets through a telescope, tour the observatory’s museum section, and listen to a lecture by a leading astronomer — very engaging and interesting!
The cost of the observatory tour is included in the trip price.
After that, we’ll drive to a wild clearing at an altitude of about 1,200 meters above sea level.
We’ll watch the Orionid meteor shower — those “shooting stars” — while our naturalist teaches us how to navigate by stars and find constellations.
Around midnight we’ll return to the hotel to sleep.
After breakfast at the hotel we’ll drive to the trailhead. The hike will go through a pine forest — cozy and mysterious. The incline is comfortable, so this hike is treated as Level 1 difficulty. We’ll check out local mushrooms, breathe fresh air, visit an old fortress, and of course enjoy the views.
Distance: 8–10 km
Elevation gain: about 400–500 m
After the hike, we’ll head to a cozy clearing for lunch, then return home.
We expect to be back in Batumi around 10:00 PM.
