On October 5 (Sunday), join us for an art history lecture designed for teenagers — this time we will talk about the Ancient East!
From the first cities of Mesopotamia to the mighty Assyrian kings — we will trace the path of an entire civilization. You will see Sumerian ziggurats and small statuettes of praying figures, explore the mysterious “Standard of Ur,” and discover why kings immortalized their victories on steles. We will also discuss the Laws of Hammurabi, the bronze portrait of King Sargon, and the majestic winged bulls (Shedu) that once guarded palaces.
The lecture will be given by Daria Sharipova — cultural historian, educator, and tutor.
