Aladdin’s Magic Lamp

The performance is based on One Thousand and One Nights and the Disney animated film.

The main character, Aladdin, is a young boy who commits small thefts at the market of the city of Agrabah in order to earn money, accompanied by his loyal monkey Abu. From afar, he admires the Sultan’s luxurious palace and dreams of one day meeting Princess Jasmine.

The Sultan wishes to marry his daughter off to a wealthy prince according to tradition, but Jasmine wants to marry only for love. One day, she secretly leaves the palace and ends up in the Agrabah market, where Aladdin helps her when she finds herself in trouble.

The evil Jafar notices everything and orders Aladdin’s arrest. Jasmine worries about him, but Aladdin cleverly obtains the magic lamp, fully aware of its value, even refusing other treasures for it. The Genie inside the lamp helps him fulfill his wishes, and in return Aladdin promises him freedom.

The main message of the performance is clear: a person should never trade their freedom for anything or anyone.

Transformed into a prince, Aladdin appears before the Sultan and asks for Jasmine’s hand in marriage. They fly away on a magic carpet, get married, and live happily ever after. Evil Jafar is trapped in the lamp forever, while the Genie gains his freedom.
