A workshop dedicated to Milorad Pavić’s novel “The Last Love in Constantinople: A Tarot Novel for Divination” and to tarot cards.
The workshop explores the origins of experimental writing, its schools, history, and practices in the twentieth century. The facilitators will discuss the main methodologies and how to incorporate them into contemporary texts, women’s* writing, or autofictional prose.
During the practical part, we will turn to Pavić’s tarot novel “The Last Love in Constantinople: A Tarot Novel for Divination.” The narrative in the text is structured through the Major Arcana of the tarot: it is these cards — from the Fool to the World — that make it possible to trace the development of the plot. We will invite participants to draw a tarot card from their own deck or ours and write short études based on the card, interpreting it through its imagery and their own understanding.
