The central ballet of the classical repertoire, Swan Lake, was born within the walls of the Bolshoi Theatre, and it is no coincidence that this work often opens the Ballet Company’s international tours.
The premiere of a new version by Yuri Grigorovich took place at the Bolshoi Theatre, combining both the discoveries of his earlier productions and new innovations. The staging interweaves Grigorovich’s artistic vision with carefully preserved fragments of original choreography by Lev Ivanov, Marius Petipa, and Alexander Gorsky.
